
“Now, where is it?” Euphie muttered.
She was on the ladder looking at the top shelf, but the book was missing. It wasn’t anywhere.
“Euphie! This brew requires focus! What is wrong?” Hermi growled.
“The remembering spell?” Euphie frowned.
Hermi griped and went straight to a shelf, grabbed a well-worn book without looking.
“This one, right? Page 83,” she said. Euphie opened to page 83 and started reading. The last word carried Euphie’s voice away.
She glared at Hermi.
“Oh fiddlesticks! Honest mistake!” Hermi frowned. “It looks just like the other!”
Euphie waved frantically.
“But, at least you’re QUIET now!”

Trying to figure out what to take out, what to leave, keep it 100 words or less, and make it make sense – building some writing muscle here. Truly fun, though!
I did improve. This placed 19th in 39 entries, making it just shy of the honorable mentions and the highest I’ve ranked yet.
